About Troop 10 …
Troop 10 is part of the Greenwich Council, Boy Scouts of America. The Greenwich Council was founded in 1912 with headquarters in Greenwich, Connecticut. The Greenwich Council is one of the oldest and smallest councils in the United States, operating continuously to serve the town of Greenwich, including Old Greenwich, Riverside, North Mianus, Cos Cob, Byram, Pemberwick, Glenville, Round Hill, and Banksville. The Greenwich Council is #67 and it includes only the Blackwolf District.

Troop 10 was founded on February 3, 1922 due to the kind auspices of the Diamond Hill United Methodist Church, in central Cos Cob. In its early years, Troop 10 spent many nights camping on the property of Cos Cob resident Ernest Thompson Seton, one of the three founding members of the Boys Scouts of America movement. Many young men have participated in the program and many have become Eagle Scouts.

Our Scoutmaster is Rob Seavey and Troop 10 is proud to have many Assistant Scoutmasters including Jerry Knorr, Dave Hall, David Hays, and Rob Stone. We are also fortunate to have a group of parents to help the scouts in their journey. We usually meet twice a month during the school year on Mondays at 7:30 PM. The St. Lawrence Club on Valley Road in Cos Cob has graciously offered their facility for our meetings. We also try to offer a Merit Badge Workshop on the Mondays that we don’t have a troop meeting. The workshops meet at 7:30pm and the location is determined by the Merit Badge Counselor. Scouts are expected to attend troop meetings and merit badge workshops in Class A uniforms.
Troop 10 serves the Cos Cob community and surrounding areas. We support our charter organization with twice yearly clean-up days. We participate in Greenwich Council events including Spring and Fall Camporees, the Klondike Derby, and the Fishing Derby. Troop 10 supports Scouting for Food and other Council sponsored initiatives to help those in need. Troop 10 offers at least one outdoor event per month during the school year and based on the planning of the Troop’s Senior Patrol Leaders, we offer more adventurous trips such as skiing, rafting and/or hiking the Appalachian Trail.. Troop 10 scouts generally attend summer camp in July and we have sent many contingents to Philmont Reservation in New Mexico, World Jamboree, and national Jamborees.

Troop 10 is 100% behind the boy-lead program method. The Senior Patrol Leaders develop the calendar each year and prepare the agenda for their meetings. Our scouts work in patrols and participate as patrols on campouts with boy leaders assist in teaching and training.
